Terms of Use
The simple rules for using UTD Faithfuls.
I wrote these terms in plain language and kept them short. They explain what you can do with the site and the names it makes, and where my responsibility ends.
Agreeing to these terms
By using UTD Faithfuls (“the site”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
What the site offers
The site is a free online tool that creates fantasy names for wood elf characters, plus short pages that explain how it works. I run it as an independent project for entertainment and creative use.
Using the site
You may use the site for personal and commercial creative work, such as games, stories, art and tabletop sessions. You agree not to:
- Break the law or the rights of others when you use the site.
- Try to disrupt, overload or attack the site or its hosting.
- Use bots or scripts to copy the site’s code or word lists in bulk, or to slow the site for others.
- Copy the site’s design, text or code and present them as your own.
Names you generate
I do not claim ownership of the names the tool creates for you. You may use them in your own work. Names are made at random, so I cannot promise that a name is unique or that no one else has used it. A name may also look like an existing name, brand or trademark by chance.
You are responsible for checking that a name is free to use for your purpose, especially if you plan to publish or sell something under it.
My content and ownership
The site’s design, text, code, word lists and layout belong to me and are protected by copyright and other laws. You may share links to my pages. You may quote short parts of the text with a clear link back to the source. Any other copying needs my written permission.
Third-party names and trademarks
Dungeons & Dragons and other game names mentioned on the site belong to their owners. I use them only to describe what the tool is for. The site is not affiliated with or endorsed by those owners.
Links to other sites
The site may link to websites I do not run. I do not control them and I am not responsible for what they say or do. Using a linked site is at your own risk.
No warranty
The site and its tool are provided “as is” and “as available.” I work to keep them accurate and running, but I cannot promise that the site will always work, be free of errors or be available without breaks. I also cannot promise that names or meanings will fit your needs. See the Disclaimer as well.
Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, I am not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss that comes from using the site, including lost profits, lost data or disputes over a name. Nothing in these terms limits a right you have by law that cannot be limited.
Changes to the site and these terms
I may change, pause or remove parts of the site at any time. I may also update these terms. When I do, I will change the date at the top of the page. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the new terms.
Privacy and cookies
How I handle information is explained in the Privacy Policy and the Cookies Policy. Please read them, since the site uses Google Analytics to measure visits.
Law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws that apply to my place of business as the site owner. If a part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
